SPAR Netball World Cup Digital Campaign

As one of my first projects at TBWA\, I collaborated with Nipho Nyawo to develop a digital campaign for SPAR’s sponsorship of the Netball World Cup. I helped strategise content for netball players to share and designed social media posts and banners that adhered to strict brand guidelines. By using dynamic video techniques and consistent branding, we amplified SPAR’s presence and resonated with fans throughout the tournament. This project was a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience and deepen my skills in creative collaboration and visual storytelling for major campaigns.

The Challenge

As SPAR's sponsorship of the Netball World Cup needed to be highlighted, the challenge was to create engaging digital content that not only showcased their partnership but also resonated with netball fans. This included strategising content for players to share, while designing social media posts and banners that aligned with the overall campaign narrative and seamlessly integrated with SPAR's branding.

The Process

Strategising Content: As a junior designer, I had the opportunity to work closely with Nipho, the Senior Designer, to brainstorm and develop content ideas. This involved exploring how netball players could effectively share their experiences and showcase SPAR’s involvement in the tournament.

Design and Execution: I contributed to the design and creation of social media posts and banners, ensuring all elements adhered to the campaign’s style guide, including consistent fonts and visual styles. We also incorporated multiple camera angles in our videos, which helped create a dynamic and engaging visual experience.

Collaboration: While my role was smaller, I actively participated in discussions and contributed to various concepts. This collaborative process was invaluable, offering me key insights into the creative and strategic aspects of managing a large-scale campaign.

The campaign featured a cohesive visual style that amplified SPAR’s sponsorship of the Netball World Cup. The content was designed to resonate with netball fans, effectively boosting SPAR’s brand presence throughout the tournament.

Running for several months, the campaign successfully elevated SPAR’s visibility, with the social media posts and banners receiving positive engagement. This being my first major project, it provided invaluable exposure to the intricacies of designing for large-scale campaigns.

Working on the Netball World Cup campaign was a formative experience early in my career. It taught me the importance of consistent branding, effective visual storytelling, and the strategic decisions behind what content ultimately goes live. I gained hands-on experience, working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, which deepened my understanding of how impactful digital content can elevate a brand’s message in high-profile sponsorships.
